Shortly after the Kafka Dreams formed, we got involved with a small label from Madison who were putting together a Nirvana tribute album comprised of Midwestern bands. I had corresponded with the guy who was curating it and we were all locked in to contribute our version of "Something in the Way," stretched into a 12 minute slowcore epic. A few weeks later the label folded and I never heard from the guy again. All of us were really into playing this one live and were kind of sad we never were able to get it out. When we were doing the Dreamless album in 2006, we took a little break and banged out a couple covers as the Kafka Dreams, this being one of them. I think some of us prefer the "12/14/01" version; this one is a bit more tempered. Regardless, it was nice to finally have a studio take of a song that had been part of our live set for so long.
