A live favorite. This was one of the best instances of Ben and I writing something together-he brought in the hook and I built the song around it-but we would argue a lot over what was the more important part of the song. I was something of an asshole back then and wasn't very gracious about sharing credit. We've always had a soft spot for this particular version of the song, because there's the section in the middle where the drums drop out and it's just guitars roaring away, all sad and forlorn. I think our friend Ryan prefers this take, too. It was a mistake that we could never replicate, so we never tried. Matt came up with the title.
