I consider this to be the definitive take of "The Growing Sadness" in the absence of any official recording. Raw and visceral from the start, the track just shreds. I remember one night Ben and I were zoned out on mushrooms, driving into Wisconsin, listening to this song. When the section of my solo came on where it's all the tremelo noise/panning, Ben just turned to me and said, "Holy shit, Cory." Obviously we were susceptible to our own bravado and we were tripping, but it still strikes me as powerful. I never played the solo better.
