about

Probably the cover that's closest to my heart. We'd been doing this Wipers song forever, after I heard the Melvins totally kill it at a few shows in 2001. It was everything I was wanting in a song: heavy as fuck, fast, long, psychedelic, and hugely anthemic. Using the Melvins version as a template, we amped it up a little and made it a regular part of our set. This sort of stuff was super fun to play. I got to really embrace my sloppy Greg Ginn meets EVH style rock and roll soloing (listen to the finger-tapping!) and even tried to reference Jello Biafra towards the end with the weird quaver in my voice. I think all of us really gravitated towards the aggression in this one, and I'm glad it's finally getting out there for you to hear. When we were mastering it, our engineer Dave Gardner total us we sounded like a Swedish hardcore band on this track. I take that as a pretty stellar compliment.
